CBD is known to be beneficial for physical pain, but what are the mental health benefits of CBD? We’ve taken the time out to break down exactly how CBD can help with many mental illnesses.
CBD is widely known as the miracle molecule. With it’s non psychoactive properties and ability to heal, there is no wonder why it a popular supplement. There is lots research that supports the mental health benefits of CBD. A 2011 study in the Journal of Psychopharmacology found that Cannabidiol is extremely beneficial for patients suffering from specific forms of mental illness. CBD has neuroleptic effects similar to antipsychotic drugs in research involving animals. This makes CBD a prime candidate for treatment of people suffering from delusions, hallucinations and paranoia. In the studies involving humans, psychosis was artificially induced in subjects and CBD was given as a treatment. The results found that it actually inhibited psychosis in the participants without exhibiting notable adverse effects.
Another research found in Neuropsychopharmacology’s 2011 issue on individuals found that the participants who were housed in a stressful environment, had reduced anxiety when using CBD. These studies show that the cannabinoid is ideal for people who are suffering from a handful of discorders. The disorders include OCD, panic attacks, social phobia, fear of public places and PSTD.
CBD is especially beneficial for people who experience stress while public speaking. A study had individuals public speaking with some of them given CBD and others were given placebo a couple of hours prior to the test supported these claims. The former individuals were less anxious, remembered the speech and were less panicked when waiting for their turn while the latter ones exhibited higher stress.
