The legalization of cannabis has been an ongoing process in the United States, with more states legalizing it in some form every year. In addition to being a popular recreational drug, cannabis is also used medicinally to treat conditions like anxiety, depression, and pain. Even though there are only a handful of studies on its effectiveness. In recent years, more and more people have been smoking cannabis and marijuana, especially around the time of 4:20 pm. But now, there has been a new trend of smoking weed at exactly 7:10 am and 7:10 pm.
420 has been a staple in the cannabis community for decades, but this new trend of 710 is growing rapidly. This begs the question: is 710 the new 420?
Is 710 the New 420?
In the past, smoking weed was a very different experience than what we have now. Sure, you could smoke joints, blunts, and bongs—but you couldn’t dab.
Dabbing is when you heat concentrated cannabis oil and inhale it through a special tool called a rig or nail (or something else called an e-nail). The effects are much stronger than smoking a joint or blunt because the oil contains more THC than regular marijuana does. It also doesn’t smell as strong as other forms of pot do when you’re smoking it in public places like parks or beaches where people might not want to be around someone high out of their mind right next to them on their lunch break from work every day at noon hour!
So now there’s a new kid on the block: 710 (pronounced “Seven-Ten”). What makes 710 different from traditional smoking methods like joints or blunts? First off, 710 is made using a vaping device called an e-nail or e-rig that heats concentrates such as wax or oil without actually burning them. This means that users inhale more cannabinoids with each hit than they would if they were smoking flower alone—and with less of an odor!

Everyone and their mom knows that 420 takes place every year on April 20th. Or twice a day at 4:20, depending on how often you wish to celebrate. The term 420 was coined to symbolize the celebration of all things weed.

The number 420 is very special. It’s been associated with cannabis for decades, and people have used it to celebrate the plant in various ways. But the term “420” has nothing to do with the number 420.
In the 1960s, some high school kids in California used it to mean smoking pot at 4:20 p.m., and then it spread through the rest of their state and eventually became a national phenomenon. When they got older and moved on, they took the concept with them. And now, 420 is still used as an inside joke among weed smokers around the world. It’s become more than just an inside joke—it’s an entire culture with its own events, merchandise, and slang terms.
What is 710?
It started as more of a fairy tale than reality, but lo and behold, 710 has cemented itself as the latest unofficial stoner holiday. As cannabis extraction methods continue to rise in popularity and quality with advancements in technology and new research, 710 is expected to become even bigger.
710 takes place on, you guessed it, July 10th — the same way that 420 refers to April 20th. This date was simply chosen for the fact that 710 looks like the word “oil” upside down. Seems like a no-brainer right?
710 has become the 420 of cannabis concentrates.
Just like 420 is a time for sparking up, 710 is a time for dabbers to pull out their rigs and dab to their heart out. But now, the culture has gotten even more specific. “710” is a term that has recently gained traction in the cannabis world as a way to specifically celebrate marijuana concentrates.
Comparably to 420, the origins of 710 are enveloped in rumor and mystery. It is first believed to have been officially celebrated in 2012 (the year of the first “710 Cup”), although celebrations were almost certainly taking place before then. The legalization of cannabis (and concentrates) in several US states over the following years significantly contributed to its spread.

It has gained popularity as of late, but only time will tell. The number “420” has long been associated with cannabis culture, and it is widely considered to be a code for smoking weed. However, in recent years, another number has emerged in the cannabis community: “710”.
